Hi, I am new to this site. I recently purchased a TNF jacket on eBay, Greenland 550. I need some help to determine if it is fake. Someone told me that TNF jackets are made in Hong Kong. The jacket I bought was made in China. Does anyone know where they are made? Please help me figure out if this jacket is authentic. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I like the neck tags or the stitched logo.
We've not had many Pink McMurdos posted here. From which seller did you get this?
Can you take it to the TNF store there in NY?

The sellers name is dba.comfort.zone
I do not know much about TNF jackets. The jacket is supposed to be a Greenland, not McMurdo. I am not sure when I will be able to get to the TNF store in NY.
The seller has perfect feedback. And he's a powerseller. Member since 2000. I know that does not mean it's real. I just want to be sure. Is there any way to tell without going to the TNF store? Thanks!

Compare it to this Gotham.
http://www.thenorthfaceguru.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=700&an=0&page=2#700
It's a good fake but as already mentioned the main logo lets it down. On the Gotham, it's clearly much neater and thicker.
The other thing about the seller is they are selling a lot of Prada and Lacoste gear which are both in the top ten FAKED gear list. Also they are using standard TNF stock photo from the TNf Website. Always dodgey.
Sorry.

I'm sorry for the mistaken name.
I don't mean to seem flipant, or insensitive, but as an explanation: In my mind, on eBay, there is little or no difference between Greenlands and McMurdos in that both are most likely fakes.
I realize there are exceptions to every rule, but when it comes to McMurdos and Greenlands, the exceptions are very few and far between.
I did not mean to minimalize your question or concern, but i just generalized the response based on my observations of what eBay has to offer when it comes to Greenlands and McMurdos.
Bottom Line is, buying either a Greenland or a McMurdo on eBay is an extremely risky undertaking, and the effort required to ensure you don't get taken is far greater than the money you'd hope to save when compared to other legitimate sellers.

So, Ofelas you can confirm for sure it's fake? I just want to make sure before I go making accusations to the seller.
I guess I will buy one from an authorized dealer just to make sure. Then I will file a claim and hopefully get my money back.
I appreciate everyones help! Thanks!

Absent certain few absolute hallmarks, we are only rendering opinions, and I believe this is the case with your Greenland. To my eye, the front stitched logo, and the neck tags are both sufficiently suspicious to cast substantial doubt on this item.
As is the case for not just this item, but technically any item, the actual, official word, can only come from The North Face Warranty Department.
As mentioned above, there are a certain few cases where a known bogus tag, or zipper pull, or grammar remove all doubt, but still, even in such cases, if the seller refuses to accept its "reported status", the only real opinion remains that of The Warranty Department.
With regard to McMurdos, and Greenlands, despite them being ALL OVER eBay, and despite having had NUMEROUS users stop here to get guidance, we actually have very little assistance in the form of pictures of absolute known counterfeit traits.
On the plus side, I can say that your Greenland does have a press snap that looks close to an authentic one.
At this point, if I were you, I would take it to a retail TNF store, and if an actual TNF store is not near you, then to an established authorized dealer and have the manager look at it. They may even have one to use for comparison.
Which brings me to where, and why our pictures are so few.
Often, a user will take the coat into the store and the manager will point out several areas that identify it as a fake, but then all we end up with is the writtne report back from the user, with no pictures to use for future reference.
Please, if you're not comfortable with the reports so far, I urge you to take it to a retail store. There is a lot to be said for actually holding a TNF item that can not be translated into images.
Please keep us up to date with your progress.
If you're satisfied that at the very least you're not as happy about the item as you want to be, and just want to be rid of it without ever really knowing its status, you can "assume" it is fake based on our reports and advise the seller you'd like a refund without ever really saying it is "for sure" a fake.
Please check out this thread as it has some useful and effective tips on how to do that: http://www.thenorthfaceguru.com/ubbthrea...amp;page=0#1246

As usual Bilbo is spot on.
I think your jacket looks very good with the exception of the main logo stitching.
The press stud / snap, the zip pulls, hood faux fur trim and lining do look ok. But the main logo looks very poor compared to a known genuine one. It could be a poor one that slipped through TNF quality control, it could be the photo not showing a totally flat logo. More likely though is that it is a fake.
The ONLY sure way is to get TNF Warranty Dept to look at it but that takes time.
As suggested a visit to a local authorised dealer can help greatly.
Do you own or have access to any other 100% genuine TNF items? Compare the logos? You'll see what we mean about it looking poor. Most people 'know' if the item in their hands is fake or not.
Without actually getting hands on an items we can never say 100% either way. The Fakers are getting VERY good.
